After they try to talk with the hitchhiker, who speaks incoherently about " a bad man," she pulls a loaded revolver from between her legs and shoots herself in the mouth. While driving through Texas, the group picks up a distraught and severely traumatized hitchhiker they see walking in the middle of the road. On August 18, 1973, five young adults – Erin, her boyfriend Kemper, and their friends Morgan, Andy, and Pepper – are on their way to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert after traveling to Mexico to purchase marijuana. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the first film to be produced by Platinum Dunes, who would go on to produce remakes of several other 20th-century horror films. A prequel was released in 2006, titled The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. The film was released in the United States on October 17, 2003, received mostly negative reviews from critics, and grossed $107 million at the box office on a budget of $9.5 million. Several crew members of the original film were involved with the project: Hooper and writer Kim Henkel served as co-producers, Daniel Pearl returned as cinematographer, and John Larroquette reprised his voice narration for the opening intertitles. It is a remake of Tobe Hooper's 1974 film of the same name, and the fifth installment in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Its plot follows a group of young adults traveling through rural Texas who encounter Leatherface and his murderous family. That game, based on the popular horror film franchise, found itself suddenly bogged down in legal disputes a year after its original release, eventually leading to Gun and developer IllFonic cancelled all their future content plans and eventually shutting down the game servers in 2020. IllFonic has moved on to other licensed products with other publishers, and Gun Interactive clearly needed to find a new partner to mount a fresh challenge to the subgenre’s now dominant game, Dead by Daylight. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a 2003 American slasher film directed by Marcus Nispel (in his feature directorial debut), written by Scott Kosar, and starring Jessica Biel, Jonathan Tucker, Erica Leerhsen, Mike Vogel, Eric Balfour, and R. Gun Interactive (AKA Gun Media) has likely been searching for a way back into the now well-established asymmetrical multiplayer genre after their plans for Friday the 13th: The Game fell apart spectacularly shortly after its release. It was important to us to enable every fan of the franchise to experience our vision for the game.” Ismael Vicens, Executive Producer at Gun Interactive said, “The community asked, and we’re thrilled to answer that our partners at Sumo were able to create a plan to bring The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms in a way that preserves the gameplay and visual tone of the title while giving players what they have been asking for. The Slaughter family members will spend their time hunting down and stopping their “guests” from escaping, while the victims will have to use their wits and stealth to stay away and find tools and items needed to escape. Announced at the end of 2021 and based on the iconic 1974 horror film – strictly speaking, this is branded ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’, with later films ditching the space in Chainsaw – the game will pitch members of the Slaughter family against their unfortunate victims.
